HEALTHY MIDMORNING/AFTERNOON SNACKS

Wondering what healthy snacks you can prepare for your munchkins this Festive season? Check out the Fruit Raita Recipe below:

FRUIT RAITA

Ingredients
500ml Natural yoghurt
1 Medium Apple
1 Medium Banana
1 Peach*
1 Mango*
¼ Cup Pomegranate seeds

Procedure
Dice the banana, peach and mango (cut them into small cubes). Dice the apple last to prevent early browning. Pour the yoghurt into a bowl, mix all the fruits in, including the pomegranate seeds.  For a cold Raita, use cold yoghurt.
You can substitute the fruits in this recipe with any fruits in season. Be careful though not to mix acidic and non-acidic fruits, so as to avoid bloating.

Serves 2

NutriTip: This is a perfect healthy snack for both adults and kids.
Choose a good yoghurt brand so as to benefit from healthy bacteria. There are really good brands in the market, you just need to read the ingredients.
The most unfortunate thing is the fact that 99.99% of the yoghurt brands in the Kenyan market for budget shoppers have sugar and artificial sweeteners.
The best tip I can give is to buy Natural unsweetened yoghurt then blend-in real fruits.
